A while back I was bored and was playing with the flashes. I dint have any models available so I took my son’s Spongebob and grabbed a bunch of shots. My goal was to use one light over my subject. I called my Mom in Ohio who is an aspiring photog. I asked if she wanted to get in on the exercise. Of course she was down. So we picked out a couple of toys and went at it.

The goal was:
Light the subject with 1 light without lighting the background.

Here was my setup and Final result:

Nikon D80 w/ 50mm f1.4
1/200
f/10
ISO 100

Final Shot is unedited except for sizing and taggind for web.

I’m not sure what my settings on my flash was but it was pretty low. I learned a lot from my little exercise. Sometimes when there aren’t any test models available it doesn’t hurt to have a couple toys laying around. The light falls the same on toys as it does people, just in smaller proportion.
